CAHA Open Letter
Monday, 27 August 2007
To all long time CAHA members,

As you know changes are taking place and once again we find ourselves without a rink to skate out of.  Many of you are aware that CAHA and NYTEX will no longer be working together in any capacity.  There were many things that lead to the decision, but mainly too many of CAHA's core beliefs were compromised this year.  The initial thought was to move CAHA to one of the Stars Rinks or Arlington, but neither could guarantee us ice at decent times or at all.  Many of you have stuck with CAHA through so much and hopefully you will understand that this decision did not come easily.  It has been a roller coaster ride over the last few years, and its truly sad to see it come to an end.  The current board members wanted to find another organization that had the same core beliefs and values that it has built over the last few years and at a reasonable cost to join.  Many of you saw CAHA's fees go from $700 to $3300 over the last few years, and although this can be explained it doesn't make it any less painful.  Location was also a consideration since many of our members live in the Fort Worth area.   Hopefully in the upcoming years something will open up, but until then CAHA has decided to join the The Dallas Stars Allstar travel organization out of Euless.   The organization does operate under a not-for-profit organization and is headed by Keith Andresen.
Many of you may not know this, but Keith is the one that found us ice when our rink shut down or did not have a playable ice surface the last few years.  He always gave us the lowest price because he knew our ice fees were low, and he always told me it was about the kids.  Our roller coaster ride would have ended sooner if it were not for him and his willingness to juggle schedules at his Dr. Pepper Stars rinks.
Currently the Euless Blackhawks (Dallas Stars Euless travel name) has a squirt, pee wee, bantam, and midget travel team set up for 2008/2009.  The cost per season in $2500 and that includes home and away jerseys, practice jerseys, Socks, Warm ups, Polo's, t-shirts, and shorts, min. 60hrs practice Ice (1-mid week & 1-weekend not on same day as games), NTXHL fees, including the NTXHL home games (refs etc.).  Basically the only thing not covered is tournament fees.  David Dahms was given the head coaching job for the Euless Blackhawk Bantam team this past week and once again I will be the manager.  Tony Neumann will be the assistant coach.  Keith also said that coaches for the other teams have been named and their bios along with David's will be posted soon on the website @ http://www.drpepperstarcenter.com/Hockey.asp?strHockeyType=youth&strNews=allstarsgn&strDivNav=allstars

Tryout information will be also posted soon so keep an eye on the website and I will also keep you informed.  Many of you have decision to make for the upcoming season, so please let me know if do not wish to be on this distribution list.  For those of you making a decision to go elsewhere we wish you the best of luck.  We will always have our memories and the great friendships that have come out of it!
Sincerely
CAHA
